Flavortop Nectarine is a classic, flavorful nectarine known for its large fruit, attractive red-blushed skin, and firm, juicy yellow flesh. The fruit has excellent fresh-eating quality with the rich sweet-tart flavor many people expect from a traditional nectarine.

Flavortop is a higher-chill nectarine, so it is better suited to colder locations than many of the low-chill Florida nectarines we carry.

North Florida Growing Note

Flavortop is not one of our preferred low-chill nectarines for North Florida.

Its approximately 650-hour chill requirement is significantly higher than the Florida-bred nectarines commonly recommended for our region. It may perform satisfactorily in colder inland locations that consistently receive sufficient winter chilling, but fruit production may be inconsistent where winters are too mild.

For customers wanting a nectarine specifically selected for North Florida conditions, we recommend looking at our lower-chill Florida varieties.

Growing Flavortop Nectarine

Plant in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Nectarines need good air circulation and regular pruning to help produce healthy new fruiting wood. Avoid poorly drained areas where roots remain wet.

Like peaches and other nectarines, Flavortop benefits from a regular spray and disease-management program in the humid Southeast. Flavortop can be susceptible to bacterial spot, making good orchard sanitation and air circulation especially important.

Pollination

Flavortop Nectarine is self-fertile, so only one tree is required to produce fruit. Another compatible peach or nectarine nearby may increase pollinator activity, but a second tree is not required.
